WINTER WEDDING IN THE ALPS

Wedding at Rote Wand, Lech am Arlberg

This one started with a crowd from Vienna, headlights cutting through dark toward a mountain welcome dinner at Rote Wand in Zürs — Friends and Fools. Long table, low light, the kind of noise that means people actually like each other.

The next morning: the court house in Lech. A civil wedding, vows signed in under an hour. Then out into the snow — an apéro built entirely outside, Rote Wand and mountain scapes at their backs, a bar carved straight out of snow itself. Glasses fogging. Nobody in a hurry to go inside.

Night two moved higher. Torch fire and snowmobiles up to Gasthaus Älpele, sparks trailing behind them in the dark, the whole party arriving loud and half-frozen and completely alive. That's where the real dancing happened.

Shot in a mix of film and digital — grain where it earns its place, clarity where the moment needs it. Not every wedding photographer works both formats at altitude, in the cold, moving fast between a court house and a snowfield. This one does.

A winter wedding in the Alps isn't a backdrop. It's a second guest list — weather, light, and a mountain that doesn't perform on cue.

Destination weddings at Rote Wand start from €4,000 for 2027 dates. If a civil ceremony in the snow, with torchlight and a photographer who shoots film, sounds like your kind of loud — get in touch.
